How to Become an Officer
The eligibility requirements to gain and hold office include the following:
1) Students must have a minimum of a 2.0 GPA.
2) Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 units (at any of the Los Rios Colleges).
3) Students must submit applications for a position in the stated timeframe or be appointed the board. (Note** Appointments are only allowed when students are petitioning to fill an empty seat outside of election timeframes).
Specifics:
1) Elections

Elections occur in the Spring semester. In order to become a candidate, one must follow the following process.

Members will be notified via email when elections are coming up.

Applications will be provided to all parties during general meetings or via email request by interested candidates.

Candidates must submit an application and create campaign flyers to distribute to members stating their qualifications within the listed timeframe.

After the submission timeframe for applications close, members will be sent a link to the online voting ballot.

When candidates are elected, they will be notified via email.

2) Appointment
Appointments occur during non-election timeframes when there is an unexpected vacancy. Unexpected vacancies are filled by appointment of the board through the following process:

Appointments are conducted during general meetings.

Members will be notified via email, social media, or other means of communication when there is a vacancy.

If a party is interested, he or she must prepare a 1-2 minute statement stating one's qualifications and/or interest in the position. This will be presented to members during the listed general meeting timeframe.

The appointment will be decided by a majority vote by the board of directors.
